Privacy Policy
Who are we?
Our website address is: https://www.betranslated.be/en/.
Comments
When you leave a comment on our website, the data entered in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent, is collected to help us detect spam. An anonymised string (hash) created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you use it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture (if associated with your Gravatar account) will be publicly visible next to your comment.
Media
If you are a registered user and upload images to the website, we advise you to avoid uploading images that contain EXIF GPS location data. Visitors to the site can download and extract this location information from such images.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience—so you don’t need to re-enter this information on future comments. These cookies expire after one year.
If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie is set to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is automatically deleted when you close your browser.
When you log in, several cookies are set to store your login details and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while screen option cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember me,” your login cookie will persist for two weeks. Logging out of your account will delete the login cookie.
When editing or publishing a post, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. It contains no personal data and simply stores the ID of the post you just edited. This cookie expires after one day.
Embedded content from other sites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you have visited those sites directly. These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed tracking tools, and monitor your interactions with the embedded content—especially if you are logged into their services.
Use and transmission of your personal data
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security and support purposes.
Data retention periods
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This enables automatic recognition and approval of follow-up comments, avoiding manual moderation.
For registered users (where applicable), we also store the personal data provided in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except your username). Site administrators also have access to this data for management purposes.
Rights you have over your data
If you have an account or have left comments on the site, you may request a downloadable file containing all the personal data we hold about you, including any data you’ve submitted. You may also request the deletion of your personal data. Note that we may retain certain data for administrative, legal, or security reasons, which cannot be erased.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
